This course is an introduction to advertising both as an industry and as a means of communication. Students work on creative strategy and execution of concepts and messaging in various media.
Project 1: Print Campaign
The students champion a product or cause and create a unique, creative strategy. They then translate that strategy into a campaign of three print ads at magazine size.
Project 2: Outdoor/Ambient/Nontraditional
The students once again champion a product or cause and create a unique, creative strategy. They then translate that strategy into an out of home advertisement. In some semesters, the students also expand their strategy to incorporate a social media campaign.
Project 3: Time-based Media
The students once again champion a product or cause and create a unique, creative strategy. They then translate that strategy into a time-based medium like TV, digital, or other expression of their choice.
