Pretend This is a Trap was an art exhibition by artist and professor Joey Fauerso. For the opening of the exhibition at the Texas State Galleries, Joey wanted to produce a book that displayed the exhibition. Because of the powerful visual presence of the exhibition, we decided to maintain the integrity of the series and produce a book at the original size of the artwork. In order to create a cohesive design that didn’t detract from Joey’s work, I utilized extraneous pieces created by Joey as additional design elements for the exterior and interior covers, as well as the title page.
Printing was accomplished thanks to Sawhorse Press at Texas State University and binding was completed by a seamstress in San Antonio, Texas. The book was displayed alongside the exhibition at the opening. Interior images used with permission by the artist.
