Every day we "other" people who differ from us in some way; we create categories and classifications, that separate and divide "us" from "them." This "othering" creates misconceptions, misunderstandings, and mistrust.
To combat this division, I embarked on a project to help connect different communities through storytelling. Stories have always brought people together, from the earliest campfires to social media. It was my goal to tell the stories of marginalized communities as a way to build understanding between them and the dominant culture.
I have begun collecting stories from various communities, various "others," and turning them into short comics. Others, Volume 1, tells the story of the LGBTQ+ community.
